STAR TREK: “CORTICAL STIMULATOR”
A prop item frequently appearing in Star Trek episodic television, usually for differing reasons, but almost always to fulfill a medical need. The item is a neural or cortical stimulator, and has appeared on the foreheads of Deep Space Nine characters like “Jake Sisko” (Cirroc Lofton) in “The Muse”, “Quark” (Armin Shimerman) in “Bar Association”, “Garak” (Andrew Robinson) in “Empok Nor”, “Captain Sisko” (Avery Brooks) in “Rapture” and many more. The item is two molded resin items painted gray with iridescent blue accents, and a chain-like attachment in the middle hiding a set of wires that power the sequentially flashings lights on both sides. The lights flash green and red and are powered by three DL1620 sized 3volt batteries and activated by a gray switch on the front of one side. The item appeared one way up or the other depending on the episode and is one of those Star Trek items that always seemed to be there when their was brain trauma. Item measures approx. 5.25 X 1.25 X 0.75 inches.
